November 29, 2012 Businesses and artists in Jackson’s Midtown neighborhood will open their doors to the public for a festive evening of holiday shopping, studio tours, live music, and dining. Midtown Holiday Studio Tours will feature artist studio tours and an outdoor pop-up Holiday market to showcase the arts, music, food, and products that are made locally in the Midtown neighborhood. The event will be held on November 29th from 5 – 10 p.m. on Wilson Street from Keener Avenue to McTyere Avenue, with other nearby studios and businesses open just around the corners. Participants in Midtown Holiday Studio Tours will include Midtown residents, non-profits and dozens of artists and businesses, including Pearl River Glass Studio, Aaron Phillips Photography, Studio2Concrete, Davaine Lighting, and North Midtown Arts Center. Live entertainment will feature Space Wolf, 5th Child, the Southern Comfort Brass Band, DJ Young Venom, and Tyler Kemp & Hagan Curl at a main stage on the corner of Wilson and Millsaps Avenue. Studios will have food provided by local restaurants such as The Pizza Shack and Lumpkins BBQ. Parking will be provided at NUTS on Millsaps Avenue.
APRIL 28-29 FIGMENT Jackson will take place in the Midtown Arts District. With a variety of buildings and vacant lots 4 acres, the site can accommodate practically any artistic vision. The Midtown Arts District is located in the North Midtown neighborhood, with its central node at Millsaps Avenue and its boundaries expanding as the participants require. The city and neighborhood has plans to redevelop much of the area, and we see FIGMENT as a way to bring the vitality of art and collaboration to the area’s future. The 2nd FIGMENT Jackson is an ongoing two-day event designed to promote spontaneous collaboration, active communication, and significant fun. Scheduled artists will commingle with contributors bringing unplanned commissions to the site, and a series of music acts will perform throughout the duration of the event. ![]() (c) 2012 - Justin Schultz FIGMENT FUNraiser - March 30, 2012
